LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro police believe they have cleared a number of open robbery cases with the arrests of four people they consider to be serial robbery suspects.

Samuel Cleo Harding, 48, of Louisville, is charged with three counts of robbery and one count of receiving stolen property.

Keemont Louis Oates, 31, of Louisville, is charged with two counts of robbery, and one count each of being a felon in possession of a handgun and possession of controlled substances.

Rodney Offutt is charged with five counts of robbery.

Lashai Alline Symore Savage, 25, of Louisville, is charged with one count each of complicity to robbery, fleeing or evading police and receiving stolen property.

LMPD says Harding is responsible the the October 16 robberies of the Platinum Food Mart at 1025 W. Broadway, the Family Dollar at 2124 Bank St. and a Walgreens at 3410 W. Broadway.

Detectives say Savage was the driver of the getaway car during the October 16 Family Dollar robbery. Detective Matt Crouch spotted the car parked on the Dino’s lot at 26th and Broadway.

“I was going down to the West End to canvass more for surveillance video and speak with any witnesses, and that’s when I noticed the vehicle used in some of the holdups,” Crouch said.

Crouch called for backup, and when officers attempted to pull the car over, Savage sped off, leading to a pursuit. Ultimately, Savage crashed into another car at Dixie Highway and W. Kentucky St., and both she and Harding were taken into custody.

Police say the car Savage was driving had been stolen in Jennings County, Indiana they say before.

Oates is accused of robbing Jordan’s Food Mart at 1203 W. Hill on Oct 10 and the Lucky Star Petrol at 4527 Bardstown Road the next day. In both robberies, Oates had a partner with him who was armed.

LMPD’s fugitive unit located and arrested Oates.

Offutt is charged with robbing five businesses - three Family Dollar stores and two Dollar General stores, using a gun to hold up employees.

Arrest records say on Oct. 7, Offutt robbed the Family Dollar on West Market St. and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Oct. 14, police said Offutt robbed two Family Dollars and a Dollar General, however an employee at the second Family Dollar location refused to give him money; he only left with three bottles of detergent according to the arrest slip.

Then on Oct. 16, Offutt entered the Dollar General on Dixie Highway and demanded cash, arrest records said. The store was equipped with a surveillance camera which caught Offutt’s bare face on video during the hold up.

Police also identified a 2002 gold Honda Accord nearby the Dollar General, which was used as a getaway car in another robbery.

The following day, LMPD said Offutt robbed the Dollar General on 3rd St. where he successfully stole an unknown amount of money.

LMPD’s SWAT team executed a search warrant at Offutt’s home where he was arrested.

“This (robbery) unit here has been working behind the scenes, sometimes going without sleep, sometimes going without a break to eat,” Major Matt Meagher, with LMPD’s Major Crimes Unit said. “They were on this, and they did a lot of great work.”

The arrests closed nine out of 10 open robbery cases for LMPD and three robbery cases in Shively.

At the time this article was published, all suspects were still in custody at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.

The investigation is still active and more arrests could be made.
